Here’s a recent oil painting from the Neuse River, near my home in Raleigh, NC. II was late afternoon and I really like the warm colors contrasting with the dark waters. Painted on an 8×10 canvas panel.

The water especially, with those blues and grays separated like that look very great together, and I can feel it rushing down the stream. You did a good job at getting those reflections in the water, and the shadows in it too very well balanced. I like how the background is mild and has a very serene atmosphere, and the main attraction is this bubbling brook.

January 22, 2020 at 8:43 am #935680I hope you keep doing paintings of this area, beautiful!
Everything else being equal, I would rather be in the painting zone.

January 22, 2020 at 10:12 pm #935683Thanks for your comments. The river has a 30-mile long bike trail alongside it, which I ride on often. Every now and then I stop to take photos of scenes when the lighting is nice. This particular day the afternoon light was really nice and I took a lot of photos.
