Thanks Matthew, artelahe, Joachim, Bizzibee, Beverly, and Wendy - much appreciated.
artelahe: the 1st was Sennelier soft pastel card 360gsm (not their coarser 400gsm card). The 2nd: Mi-Tientes Touch which I am going to get some more of as it comes in 24x32 pads whereas Pastelmat is 24x30 - its also a bit cheaper.
