Re: Love

Intense! A powerful reminder of the sacrifice Jesus made for us. Hope that makes sense.

Re: Love

If I don't have anything good to say I shouldn't say anything but to title this pitiful scene "Love" seems inappropriate. The Romans Crucified thousands of Jews in the first Century. To call it Love is insulting and wrong even if you think that this particular Rabbi was God. Somehow The original Jewish story of Rabbi Yeshua was usurped and twisted into a strange second Century Roman Mystery cult and all of the original meaning was replaced by a strange parody of itself. It is as if a New Age Cult came along that made Crazy Horse into a God and blamed his death collectively on all Native Americans.

Re: Love

Sorry I got got into my philosophical reaction and did not say anything about the Art. I think the drawing is sincere and competent. You use black, light and dark well for a dramatic result. I find the drawing to be a bit stiff in places but the thorny crown is drawn perfectly. I'm reminded of Max Beckmann in your best passages.

Re: Love

I hope you don't mind I took the liberty of correcting the crop and pulling the image square.

I was wondering if you think the original Jewish story of the Rabbi doesn't fit with the painting? The rest of the rant seems unconnected with the picture altogether. Nice crop though!

Re: Love

So sorry I got a little carried away. Some images make me react like one of Pavlov's dogs.
