Sunset Lookout

Well had a few hours last night.....it was slower than an ice salesman at the north pole......so I eeeked out a new board. 5x7 again....It's all I had with me
It still need some work. I used my gained knowledge of both Indy classes of "Rock 101" taught in Indy by Harold Harold makes it look easy.....I struggled along but I think it worked out. I might add some color as well......we'll see
The rock was done with a med coarse sanding needle and a huge blade scalpel and a the normal one I use.
The little guy still needs major attention and I have to add the BG.
Thoughts and advice will be gladly accepted and highly sought after as I venture on......

Re: Sunset Lookout

Allan - that's ROCKIN'...sorry, the devil made me do it
My only comment would be to leave it as it is...so dramatic. I don't think you need any thing else.

Re: Sunset Lookout

Wowsers! This ROCKS! The light is fantastic and it could stand as it is, though I am sure if you color it or add more it will be great that way too.

Re: Sunset Lookout

I vote for no background....it's so dramatic just as it is!

Re: Sunset Lookout

To quote Cathy....WOWSERS! I NEVER expected this kind of reaction!
Diana....THANK YOU!!!!!!!! You know how to make a guy feel good!
Harry....Harold's a Great teacher! Even when he has to deal with....slow learners.....such as myself

Terri... I love a good pun! Thanks for giving me a grin and for the kind words!

Cinda....a sanding needle can be purchased at Hobby Lobby and is a plastic stick that is sharp on one end and has a sandpaper material glued to it. It's in the modeling section.....model cars, planes, ships.....not like supermodels....I'd still be at Hobby Lobby if that was the case Anyway it's just a fancy version of a NBT (Nail Buffer Thingy) 12 in a pack....around $5.00 US. 3 grades of coarseness..fine( white) med (Blue) and coarse(gray).

Cathy....Thank You Very much! I've wanted to do something with a strong back light effect ever since I laid my eyes upon your masterpiece shaking dog....This isn't on the same level....but it's a start

Heath....er.... You've never heard a Doc ask for a huge blade scalpel before??? and I don't.....whip.... stuff out! I just get really lucky every once in awhile!

Jenny....I too have always liked these little critters Thank You!

Karen...Thank You!

Venkat....I'm trying to get to where I can use strong light to make a more bold piece.....to make it look more like art....less like an Illustration. I've always felt my art lacked that type of feel.

Dusty....No BG....WELL OK THEN! No BG!!!! (Good....cause you all know how much I just LOVE doing backgrounds! ) Thanks for the nice words!

Judy....Dusty said I couldn't do a background.....but your vote still counts as well

Re: Sunset Lookout

I agree with those that said "no" to a background...it's soooo dramatic in b&w...I love the light in this! Harold will be proud...you should get an A+!

I just love those little meerkats, too!
