Lion roar...uh..sorta

I don't know what possesed me to try a lion.....I'm not a cat fan
But Either Cathy's Mountain lions...or 03's lion....or maybe it was Patrick's "I wish I was a leapord piece"....something pushed me towards doing something....."Feline"
Anyway....I found a pic posted by some nut in the WC ref library....Thanks Patrick and did some editing to it.....and took major artistic licensing while working on it....and ended up with this.....
About 7 hours work....scalpel and a few ink washes, touch of Fiber brush

I gotta run...little one's gotta go to tumbling......
Which I don't understand....when I was young I had no problem tumbling on my own

Very, VERY cool, Allan. Love the negative spaces (one of my favorite aspects of the medium), and the motion and energy is beautifully communicated. Good show, sir.

I'm pretty certain the lion in my picture was about to sneeze but your editing has given a far more satisfactory look to the art. Really nice piece

Re: Lion roar...uh..sorta

Thanks Mr.X It was hit and miss for awhile. I've been trying to use more of the shadows and negative space. I haven't quite figured it out.....but am attempting it anyway.

Patrick....A sneeze? Guess I should rename it! I know I thanked you before...but your uploads in the REF lib are fantastic! Thanks for taking the time to put them up there for us to use!

Oh.....I forgot.....it's another 5"X3" board.

Allan, regardless of what moved you, this is a terrific piece. Great lighting and wonderful mood. Nothing to sneeze at here.

Allan : you have packed so much detail in a 5 x 3" . What strikes me is your bold strokes and strong contrasting lighting . Well done.
