Appaloosa in Colored Pencil

I did this one on the rough side of the card, usually I work on the smoother side. This is 4 x 6 and I used Prismacolors. I touched it up a little more after I scanned. I used a photo from the reference library. I am also posting this in the colored pencil forum.

You always blow me away with your color choices. That sky is wonderful with those purple mountains...

Re: Appaloosa in Colored Pencil

Thanks Diane! I think I can thank my high school art teacher for my choices in color. He was always talking to me about color theory.

Seems like a sad old fellow on a hot day. Well done!

Thanks! I noticed the expression in the reference photo and wanted to capture it a little. I don't know if he was sad or just relaxed like Charissa said.
