You are pulling a wonderful picture out of those bad ref photos. It's so charming, and those eyes just grab you.

Re: Auction Pet Portrait

Thanks everyone I really appreciate the comments
I finished this guy....until I looked at the scan and realized I have a bit more but this is where its' at.
Not one of my best by FAR, but it has passed the judgment of my two in house critics
White dogs are not fun to do
Here's a lot more scratchin' and a little....make that a lot of reinking and layering....I really don't like it much....but as long as the client does....that's what matters

Still a tad more to do.....the shadow on the right....bad....the eyes aren't as dark as it shows here.
Thanks for looking

Re: Auction Pet Portrait

Man, it looks great to me and I think you have as much time in on that floor as you do the dog. Excellent job on both.

The client will love it, as do I. Love the work you did on the wood grain.

Re: Auction Pet Portrait

Looking very good Allan...what's not to like?? Very cute pup! Great scratching!

I got a commission last night for in the new year. I was at a Christmas party at our artisan centre and this woman saw the portrait of my son's dog Kaiser and asked me to do her dog. I could see the woman (a local RCMP officer) was choked up and near tears the whole time I was talking to her...her dog had just recently crossed over the rainbow ridge....a bull mastiff. I saw the photo on a phone and lucked out...it looks great...good light and everything. As long as it is a decent size so I can see the detail.

Good luck with yours Pam. I don't need to tell you good luck Allan because you're doing a terrific job already!
