Garlic Bulb For a logo

A local business here in Dallas, Minced Meal Prep, needed a logo. They requested a vintage/retro look, with a modern feel. After approving the concept art, I drew a bulb of garlic on Ampersand clayboard, using a Pigma Micron size 01 pen. I then used a standard scratchboard tool to scrape out the highlights on the roots and the bulb. The illustration took about 2 hours and was an attempt to emulate the style of classic engraving illustrations for ads from around the end of the 19th century. The client approved the final version after a few final adjustments were made to the type elements.

The final logo...
