I want to paint using a stencil on a bag I have. It's made form 900D nylon, similar to some of the cordura materials out there. Since it's a bag it's probably coated somehow too, and from my research, most paints do not stick well to this type of fabric.
I've also read that nylon fabrics should be washed first, to get the stretching phase out of the way. Is this correct? This is a new bag.
What paint should I use? I want it to stick pretty much permanently, and I doubt the bag will be washed once it's on there, I typically don't wash my bags.
Edit:
Just been googling and came up with a possible alternative.

Buy some nylon fabric, cut out the design I want, and 'glue' it onto the bag using seam sealer. The seam sealer I already have is pretty heavy duty, it's made for fixing wet suits. Do you think this would work?
