Today I was gifted with a bunch of matboards of various sizes and colors. A few are precut, but the majority is of the ¼ sheet or larger variety. Though I do some watercolor, some photography, and do happen to have a mat-cutter I can see no way disposing of well over 100 matboards. Storage for such an amount is also a concern. Should they be stored flat or upright? I would appreciate and be thankful for your thoughts.:)

Tipo.

When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know PeaceJuly 6, 2019 at 6:23 pm #850880Ya use em up… Or stick them in storage. Are they both quality acid-free and archival? Store them flat under your bed… They’ll last for decades.
July 6, 2019 at 6:57 pm #850879Thanks for the comments and help. I have no idea on the quality, but I would think they are acid-free for several have a fabric surface, several sport a textured surface, and the rest involve a multitude of colors. The matboards were stored in old refrigerators at a home that my son-in-law bought. The previous owner simply walked away from everything in the home. I’m guessing framing and matting might have been a home business or hobby. I’ve fooled with it a little in the past. It is time consuming and a bit demanding. The imported pre-cut stuff that you can find on places like Amazon was probably a death-nail for a lot of home framing shops.:)
