colour charts

oil on canvas 20" x 18"

Not so keen on doing colour charts ... If I have a ruined canvas ... with this one,
somehow a box was put on top of it and ruined the dang thing, so it was a candidate
for a colour chart sort of thing. The way I remind myself of what colour can do is to just
do anything in a fauvist manner ... ie, without any correction. So the colours I chose to
do this particular colour exploration is the three primaries, magenta, cyan and lemon yellow.

A hapless male twitterpated by a local beauty, offering the aforementioned goddess
a handy bunch of flowers. Still, its not a painting, just to see what lemon yellow, cyan
and magenta can do. Surprised tho I must say that cobalt blue is naught but cyan mixed
with a touch of magenta.

rework #1

Don't know how it will work out mind. A woman gives a male a bunch of flowers, a light
bulb hovers above, the scene is in the back garden. .... Shall await on what the painting
wants in it.

Re: colour charts

Work or rework, they are both wonderful! I was just reading somwehere about mixing blues and I read that very statement about cobalt blue: not sure if it was in the techincal forum. That first one somewhat Picasso-esque.

Re: colour charts

Like the changes in the rework removing the the pointy finger, and woman's scoul. This has a lovey mood, and complex relationship.

Re: colour charts

Very whimsical pieces and slyly humorous. I like them.

Re: colour charts

I like both versions. I find the second a bit more refined in it's colors. Both are fun and your work is always interesting.
