"American Icon" - Bison Portrait - COLORED and FINISHED

Here is the 10"x8" board I worked on at my art fair. I found conveying the depth and thickness of the fur on the head took lots of layers of scratching. Not sure if I am quite done, but pretty close.

Hard to get a good image since the fiberglass brush left a shine on parts, so have to wait for a final image until I have scanned it after it is sprayed.

Re: Bison Portrait

Another stunning piece, Cathy!! Really cool fur texture on the center of the face. Perfect lighting as well.

Re: Bison Portrait

Lovely drama in this piece Cathy. And fabulous scratching as usual. Nice cropping too.

Re: Bison Portrait

Hard to believe that the board is only 8 x 10" because there is so much detail in the eyes. Well done!

Re: Bison Portrait

What a handsome beast! Love what you've achieved with the different wooly fur textures and the lighting, Cathy. Oooh, and the texture on the horns, too!

I hesitate to say anything, but since you did say you might not be finished . . . one thing that stands out to me is that parts of the nose look hard-edged (his left nostril and the horizontal line across the top)??

Re: Bison Portrait

What a wonderfully powerful image, Cathy... the textures and lighting are wonderful. I would also be interested in the reactions while you worked...
