Re: JUNE Watermedia Challenge

Hi all, June's challenge is off to a good start, just working on some of my choices today! r/Marianne

SanLynn, your colors are spot on for the roses, it's not easy to do a macro, I'm liking your petal work. :-)

Calvin, didn't see the :dog/fox....must be a figure of imagination!

Christel, a good choice of medium and textural contrasts, a beautiful painting of Hayley and Kitty. Sweet!

Sanlynn - Gorgeous close-up of the rose, beautiful colors and a delicate watercolor!

Christel - Beautiful painting of Hayley with her kitten. Not an easy one to do but you've made an outstanding painting of her.

Sandie, beautiful breaking waves and fountains. So much light.

Sanlynn, wonderful, dreamy flowers. Lively and calm at the same time. Again, lots of light.

Christel, lovely portrait. Great fidelity to the reference, Carries so much happiness to the viewer.

Re: JUNE Watermedia Challenge

I was able to take the day for painting....here's the Lilies...8x12, acrylic as water color(water and watermedium) and gouache on 185, canson acrylc watercolor paper.....my Asian lilies are getting ready to bloom! I like working the water method as it come closest to how I like to paint!
I finished and hesitated about the background....just as I was getting ready to post, I changed my mind about the background Thanks for having a look. ;-) r/marianne *PS Vivien, I know you said for challenge only but I wonder If I could post these to my online acrylic class that I am taking, as extra work? .

Re: JUNE Watermedia Challenge

Marianne: I love your lilies - they have such a delicate feel to them. I'm not sure which background I prefer - I think they both work for me and both set off the flowers perfectly

Re: JUNE Watermedia Challenge

Marianne, I love the lilies also. I like the blending and shading you did.

It's nice to have another person here who enjoys using dilute acryics in a watercolor style..

Re: JUNE Watermedia Challenge

Marianne -Lovely Lily painting! I'm not sure which background I like the best - maybe the first one?
I've just begun my Lily painting too...so far I've only got it sketched out.
Yes, of course you may post them to your online Acrylic Class.
The only photo I really didn't want used in anything other than this Challenge was Hayley's photo, as it is of my grandaughter when she was about 9 years old...(she's 19 years old now and at University! How the years do fly by!)

ColdPress - I also like using Acrylics in a transparent watercolor technique. The only problem I have with mine is, they are Atelier Interactive Acrylics, and I've had no end of problems with them using them thinly. I drag them out time from time, and have another try with them....but so far I'm not happy at my results at all. I've had them for years, and I've got so many colors with them I just can't afford to buy a different Acrylic brand....so I persevere!
