Thanks, Kym! I started using La Carte just so I could get this type of effect. I love suede matboard, but I couldn't get things as sharp as I wanted them to be. For the text, I used a combination of soft pastels and pastel pencils. The nice thing about La Carte is that it sharpens your pastels while you're painting. I used a black pastel pencil to write the letters, then corrected and shaped them by going around the edges with the lighter colored pastels and pencils. I hope that makes sense.

Wow great painting,
I would never think of painting anything like that, I particularly like the way you have captured the depth between the objects, it makes me wonder whats in there?

You might be interested in my professor's work from my old NYU days. Idelle Weber is one of the leading woman photorealists. She actually painted "garbage" on the streets for a while.



I love your painting. Shows lots of skill in rendering. This Painting by Idelle reminds me of your kind of composition. Derek
