Portrait Gallery-Feb-March 2012

What's on your easel (or in your sketchbook) this month?

Show a finished portrait or one in any stage of progress (WIP = Work in Progress). This thread is for showcasing your work; others will only critique your work if you request it.

So please show us what you've been up to this month. We'd love to see it.

Note: If you welcome Comments and/or Critique, let us know when you post (ie: "Cs & Cs welcome")

Even if you have already shown it in the main portraiture forum, you are invited to showcase it in this thread, also, as this thread will remain in the Library Archives. (We welcome Self-portraits... anything portrait, in all mediums)

And be sure to check out previous Portrait Galleries in the Archives. Lots of great work in there!

Here are two recent studies, oil on linen. C&Cs welcome. I'd also love to see re-posts from last month's thread which disappeared I think during system maintenance.

raeburn, these portraits are exceptional! I can't stop examining the second. Love that technique!

Unfortunately, all of the posts that disappeared are fairly well gone for good and for some tech reason can not be reposted from a database. Sad.

I'm glad you did. It's quite lovely. Has the public had a chance to see your latest portraits yet, Annemarie? They should be standing in line to offer you portrait commissions. If I were the moneyed grandfather of a girl graduating from university, I'd be first in line after seeing this one!

Re: Portrait Gallery-Feb-March 2012

Haven't posted here in awhile but I am finally adding new pastel portraits to the forum.

The little girl is biting her lip. Not my favorite image but it is for a show and that is what I got for the image. She is the latest. The Girl in the Barn was 2nd most recent with the Mother and Baby the oldest.

The 3 images I am posting are from combination Phography/Painting Shows. Not very saleable since the photo may also be available but I am getting good practice. Of course a sale would be wonderful!!! Any ideas?

Comments and criticsm welcomed...honestly!

Yvonne

Yvonne, imho the other two are not bad but the young girl biting her lip is a HUGE improvement, congratulations on a lovely painting.

Re: Portrait Gallery-Feb-March 2012

Oh, gee! Larubia, I love it!!! What's NOT to love?

Yvonne, that little girl is beautiful! Well done!
The hard edges on the woman's portrait bothers me a bit. With the softness of the barn boards, it seems her face is too hard edged as well as her hair.
Mother and baby? Well, just so pretty! Well done on both!
