Re: November/December 2011 Portrait Challenge !
Really nice work here. Kevin, thanks for the wonderful references.
Heres my take on Li Lu the beautiful.
1/4 Sheet Arches CP and gouache. White, ivory black, raw sienna and English red.

Re: November/December 2011 Portrait Challenge !
Hey there,
I loved looking at everyones work. I had neglected my pencil box the last little while and thought I should have a go...not the greatest..but hey ,,it was fun to draw again and rekindle my ongoing struggles with getting a likeness ..some great faces to try ,,, thx for looking.
hb/2b mech pencil..and some finger smudging

Re: November/December 2011 Portrait Challenge !
Just taking a look through the posts. Some excellent stuff here. You guys are to be commended on your industry!
Steve: That's a mighty fine digital of the theatrical lady.
Prosenjit: A selection of the good strong drawings we expect from you.
Sandra: A beautiful dreamy lady, the filter suits.
Brian: I like your romantic highlights on Da Bill.
Annie: Beautiful Li-Lu indeed, a poised and elegant portrait.
I greatly enjoyed the Sir Anthony portraits. I must say I've never been a big fan of his. The best you can say of him is he is very good at playing Anthony Hopkins. You've all captured that rather clueless expression! Ella's version is particularly deft.
Well done all!

Re: November/December 2011 Portrait Challenge !
Wow... some fabulous work here! I am envious!
I have been teaching myself digital painting (it's going very slow), so I thought I would have a go at Ms Shrimpton. I painted it in greys/whites/dark browns and then added a couple of flowers, finishing it off with a sunset filter for interest.
I used Corel PaintShop X5.... dreaming of one day having Painter 12.
I still find facial features quite hard to do digitally... but I'm learning

Re: November/December 2011 Portrait Challenge !
I remember the excitement of following the space programme back in the sixties when I was at school.
This is a pencil drawing on a fairly rough textured drawing paper, 10 x 12 inches.

Re: November/December 2011 Portrait Challenge !
Some very nice work going everyone.
Seems like nobody wanted to do Dana. A couple of different sketches.
First I wanted to do a line driven sketch, my attempt at a renaissance type drawing. Not my usual, goofing around.

The second one below is probably my ususal approach.
