Re: Portrait Challenge -- August 2010

Hello

Kevin thank you for the great references.

The work on the challenge for this month is fantastic!! You all inspired me to pick up my pencil after a long hiatus. I did the male bust . 2 hours work. could continue, but may choose another. I do not know how to re-size my photo. No image.

Thanks for the excellent photos Kevin. Here is my version of the stoney faced man.

Willow charcoal and white chalk.

Don’t think I captured that stone look Dave

Re: Portrait Challenge -- August 2010

Dave he does have the "stone" feel! Ginger - if you have windows ( at least in the past 5 years or so) you can pull up your image in Microsoft Office Picture Manager and select "resize" from the "Picture" menu item, type in 800 and 800 in the boxes, hit "ok" and save.. now you are ready to post. Photoshop, PS elements, painter and art rage all have features to do this as does the image tools on a Mac. Does that help?

Re: Portrait Challenge -- August 2010

Oh, wow, so many great entries, a real pleasure!
Kevin, that's an obvious portfolio keeper, outstanding! I wonder if the photo isn't too dark, judging by the white of the paper.
I'm still stuck with commissions, so it doesn't look like I'll get to any of the challenge references.

Re: Portrait Challenge -- August 2010

Hi,

It took 2 hours of learning photoshop /uploading here to get this image on.... I seriously need a computer course!

2b pencil. 2 hours. I realize there are proportion issues. Oddly, I drew him to look like my hub's uncle.... I guess subconsciously I thought they looked alike!

I really enjoyed this exercise. I am seeing some patience and growth. This is the best place to learn.

Kevin , thanks for the photoshop suggestion.

Here it goes.....ginger

Re: Portrait Challenge -- August 2010

Here is my first submission to Portrait challenge: Boy in Orange and Green. I love painting and drawing statues. Thanks for the reference photos. Watercolor 10X14 Arches 140 CP; Windsor Newton burnt umber, burnt sienna, fr. ultramarine, Windsor Blue. The Photo does not capture the rich shades of greens in the back ground...

C&C Welcome. Thanks for looking...

Ginger - you got the sense of him for sure..

Kayelny - some nice rich colors in your watercolor - reminds me of Dali a bit..
