I still don’t know how to paint the background…
And I’m scared of mixing my white titanium paint to have the expected light pinks. So, the flowers are dark, sorrowful…

The painting is beautiful.

I mostly use pastels but have been trying oils lately. I was watching a YouTube video on oil painting and the artist spoke of limiting your use of white paint. Your painting makes it clear to me the point he was making.

wonderful. i feel like i’m in the painting.
the direct light here is yellow, the white indicates either material or strong indirect light, meaning i feel no sorrow in the flowers. they appear wildly inquisitive, aware of me and creating a slightly apprehensive but joyful contact.

Nice work…love the touches of blue and yellow you put in here and there. You got the individual flowers nice & lifelike – especially the ‘pollen thingy’ in the middle (don’t know what it’s called). In my yard, the cosmos are in full bloom now; orange-yellow sulphur cosmos and wine-red ones. Bees love them.
