sill life with bonnard

oil on canvas 20" x 16"

Alas, I think my el cheepo camera is biting the dust. The work does not have a red veil.
In any case, wanted to try the Cezanne idea when he said the unfinished sections or
rather the untouched sections of canvas are just as important as the finished sections of
the painting [ or words to that effect ].

Normally I hang out in landscapes, but in this one, very little landscape to be had. This
supposed to be Bonnard ... but probably more accurate if its an old fella sitting with a dog.
I rarely draw in the painting first but It strikes me [ doh !!! ] that it is a much better idea
than just taking up ones brush and painting. One never stops learning in this pitcha
making ...

Re: sill life with bonnard

very nice, I agree that the background is great, so is the chair, head, etc. The hip area needs some tonal adjustment to push it back. lovely stuff
