Hey everybody, long time no post!
Unfortunately for the first time in my life I've been dealing with some health problems, and visits to doctors/hospitals/testing facilities have slowed my painting to a crawl... like I didn't paint slow enough. The good news is that I'm better than I was and can get some further testing to figure out what's causing my poor health, plus the 'major' worries (heart, lungs, blood) look really good for my advanced age (47). Anyway, several friends were inquiring about the painting and my absences from WC, so I took a break from painting and took some pix this AM and wanted to post them.
First off, the painting as a whole:
The vase/stormtrooper/flower are completely done, but many others have not been finished. You'll see what I mean in the upcoming photos!
First up, some of the completed items:
A closeup of the vase's reflection:
Pretty cool, huh?
Now for one of my favorite parts of the painting, our poor stuck-behind-glass Stormtrooper:
The flower - love the way it came out, used 4 different reds, but Michael Harding's Alizarin Crimson was indispensable. And for those who worry about lightfastness, I have an 18-month (currently) test going on with this paint, and it looks as good as the day I applied it. HOORAY FOR MICHAEL HARDING!
Now for the background photo-sampler thing. THIS IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING FINISHED! I roughed-in the colors for the Death Star and the vines on both sides, both need a lot of work to be as precise and detailed as I'd like them to be.
And two more of our friend the Stormrooper trapped in the vase:
Finally, some pix of the fruit skewer. The Strawberries are just barely blocked in, the middle, cut one is just started, and the kiwis have a little color on them, the bottom one being much closer to completion than the top one.
As you can see, not much since my last update, but hopefully my health will improve and I'll iron out all my issues in the next few months. Hope you all tune in regularly, I will try to keep up with the updates on this painting!
