Re: Basic 101: Class 8 - Light and Shade

Arnoud, thank you very much .I am very pleased to read that.
Then I will go to class 10 (or 11) I think because 9 I find it right and interesting to do it but I would go further. (I think 9 is class that I can do in parallel to another (with the exception of the final design is because to try to write I have to take time for my difficulties with English, to read the class while (which is also a nice window and reading relaxation in practice), choose book even if perhaps it will be key to drawing that I have to finish (", important for me to draw the large to the small, because it cites the existence of various styles and not to draw symbolic even if these two are then among the various things that I discovered further or I keep more present thanks to your advice) even if I believe there is and maybe to return a small part of this big forum, a book not present, perhaps was better.

Re: Basic 101: Class 8 - Light and Shade

I'm still working on the tree whenever I have the time.
Here's my progress so far.
Is there anything I've done well and anything I can do better?

It's also kind of difficult to get it to look right with a scanner.

Re: Basic 101: Class 8 - Light and Shade

Good job in general, Eviano
Good contrasts of dark and light. The bark texture is very well rendered on the branches.
But the trunk texture looks as drawn by thinking more than by observing.

Otherwise you did very well

Re: Basic 101: Class 8 - Light and Shade

Thanks for taking the time to critique Arnaud.
Would you advise me to move on or do I do the drawing all over again for this class.
(I'm eventually going to do the drawing again for personal practice till I get the texture down perfectly)

Eviano -

As I said before, the main subject of this class is not the tree, but the study of how light is reflected from differently oriented surfaces. After all, the title is "Light and Dark", not "Trees" (That is class 102-13)

This was rather enjoyable. I haven't yet added my personal item to the tree.

Very nice PenguinPower
You have a clear understanding how the light plays on surfaces. And a good technique for rendering it

Thank you! I added a little carving to the trunk as my personal addition to the reference

Re: Basic 101: Class 8 - Light and Shade

Hello Arnoud ,
I hope you've been well! I wanted to share my finished piece, which I had started many, many months ago but have only come back to finish today. I'm happy I finally took the time to figure out the bark texture and I enjoyed adding in the owl, a spirit animal of a kind
Please enjoy, C&C welcome by all!
