Another house portrait, black & white

This one is 10 x 15 inches, done with a combination of Pigma Microns and sumi ink.

All C&C welcome! My own criticism is that the vanishing point is set too low (to the left); that, combined with the down-to-the-left slope of the yard, makes the house seem a bit slanted. I feel like it's not too bothersome, but I'd like to know what other people think, with their fresh eyes on it.

Beautiful work. The slope of the yard adds to the uniqueness of the scene.

Very nice work but I never envy a house drawer ! Get a really nice house with nice trees & you've got a chance of getting a nice drawing.Difficult otherwise !

The perspective is fine Mark, with very little actually .... the VP being just about central when judging by steps at the doorway ..... and most of the house a straight-on view ....... to remove that downward slope of the land would remove the character of this house and probably upset the owners!!
Your pen marks are varied and descriptive, very nice .... love the dog there!

Oh heck yes. There are lots of houses that seem like nice places to live, and look just fine, but trying to draw them is frustrating because the house does not lend itself to being captured in a nice 2-D scene. I guess I shouldn't be more specific for fear of offending the home owners if they come across this post somehow, but a house can look OK in real life, but be an ugly thing to draw. There was one large, modern house I drew that had all kinds of weird angles and protruding glass windows; plus it was on top of a hill, and trying to get decent reference photos was a complete pain because everyplace I could stand forced me to look upwards at the house.

I worked in an architectural off in my younger days and would always spend a little time around the rendering tables, watching them turn concepts and sketches into beautiful flat drawing to for clients. Your drawing remind me of that time and those artists. Very nice work.
