Winter Plein Air Study 3

Ok, -10 and cold. I had to paint quickly as I dropped a wingnut off my easle and could not find it in the snow. I had no top clap and the wind was trying to get that panel off the easle. Anyway, I'm not trying to do paintings, only quick studies so all's well. I also don't care for exactness as I'm making things rather than trying to copy. This is 10 x 14 Oil On Panel.

I did learn not to leave my gloves in the trunk of the car overnight as the neoprene seems to hold cold as well as warmth. It took some time and cold fingers to warm them up.

Alright, you are onto something here!
Is the photo of the painting darker than the actual work? I'm guessing that the painting is way lighter (like the litup snow is close to white). If so, could you re-shoot it?

I think you are right to be satisfied with this one!

Tough Crowd, LOL

Kmart. I don't recall seeing too much snow that is white but maybe I am a little darker in my rendering and picture of the painting. I will bring a white piece of cardboard next time out so I can make a better comparison. I'm not overall into exactness but I would like to get the values proper. Seems to me your values are bang on, but what I really like about this one is how you did the trees! Love those quick criss-crossed brushstrokes!
