Butterfly, faded - watercolour, quarter sheet

I chose this one because it was one of those rare paintings where everything went exactly as I'd planned and I enjoyed the whole process. It was also the first painting I'd completed in front of other people (I normally paint at home, I did this at my art club).

This was my first commission - their owner was delighted and said I'd captured their characters.

Re: Your Best Work For 2016

I chose this piece for two reasons. Number one being that this was the first time I attempted to add a human figure to one of my animal paintings and I was happy with the results. Number two being that not only was this piece juried into an equine art show about people and their relationships with horses, but I was also awarded second place at the show for it!

My favorite is this painting of a fox, just very happy with how all of it turned out.

This is one of my more challenging paintings for the year. It is from a photo taken along the highway early in the morning on our way to church. The fresh snow had just fallen and the owl was out looking for breakfast.

Re: Your Best Work For 2016

Here's mine.
All my A & W paintings were done for our Monthly Challenges. I've picked this one of mine to feature, as it was a painting that went ok right from the beginning - that doesn't happen for me very often!

25cm x 30cm - PanPastels & pastel pencils on Mi-Teintes paper

I'd have to say it's this one. It's my favourite of the year anyway.

Tern of the Tide
For colour, composition rendering, subject and design, I think this was my most powerful painting for 2016.
