Here are several pen & wash pieces. These were posted as pen & ink drawings in forum: Artwork From Life; Plein Air; Autumn in the Big Bend National Park; pages 66 & 67:
I decided to watercolor these three with pan watercolors. On the first I used a Yasutomo Sum-E set:
The paper is 9x12 inch Strathmore 400, 140CP. It is a view of the Rio Grande river from the terrace of the Falcone Restaurant, Boquillas, Mexico.
Then I used a QOR watercolor set. The same paper. I had made a huge composition error... by sticking that folding sign in the middle of the picture. So I tried to make it kinda vanish:
This is the Boquillas Restaurant, across from Falcones.
Last I used a Reeves watercolor set. I found it had a wonderful warm black. This is a return to the idea of a monochrome picture with just the focal point colored. The paper is 11x15 inch Strathmore 400, 140CP:
This shows is a couple of hikers preparing to walk on the Mule Ears Trail.
