Re: The Oily Rag....................Come and Chat, February 2013
In addition to my canvases...I received 2 35"x60" aluminum blinds and a 60 amp range cord.. just called Jerry's to let them know...they are contacting the shipper..my guess is someone is getting a range without a cord.. don't have a clue about the blinds..

Marcia, that is so great that you were able to save it! Pics tomorrow?
Toril, the most interesting color list I ever got included Transparent Red Oxide, and I restock it constantly. It does well for flesh, landscapes, even still life when mixed nicely. And it is a good idea to keep your own recipe book with your own favorite blends.
Becc, sounds like you've got more work to do than time to do it in! Good luck with getting the best results these next days so that no do-overs are necessary. I know you're eager to get to those canvases, too!
Look what Himself got me for my dragon collection! I love it, but I won't overuse the light switch in the bottom part, because there's no way to open it to change batteries (being a Chinese product).

Woot! I have some 3 x 4 stretchers, and at least one I have planned - just need a comfortable time/space to do it. Actually, it is the eagle picture I took over Xmas.
Funny about the cord and blinds, how odd!
Ooooh, Nancy, I love your dragon lamp!

Marcia, that eagle will look amazing that size!!!! I'm trying to keep my scale equivalent on everything..so these sizes help..
Now I have a schedule for a driver to pick my extra stuff up sometime before 11 tomorrow...then I have to get fuel, and cat food and head out...long day...long days ahead..But, I guess it will keep me out of trouble..(or maybe not)

Re: The Oily Rag....................Come and Chat, February 2013
Thanks, Becca and Marcia! You can call it a dragon lamp, but I doubt if I could read by it!
The Oklahoma Gazette is printed each Wednesday, and I picked up a copy today at lunch with my BFF. My blurb about the opening is in there, but when I got home, the publisher had emailed me this afternoon, and asked if I could send him some high-res pics! So it may be that next week we could get featured instead of just listed! ("A picture is worth a thousand pieces of gold," as Confucius said.)
I will go in early tomorrow and get some high-res* shots, and cross my fingers that we get some publicity! I may send them to all three print media I sent to before and see what happens, too.
Wish me good luck?
*I used to save my high-res pix as well as make an 800dpi pic for WC, but I've slipped over the years...

TA-DA!!! Free publicity! Since there is free noshes and nibbles involved, a reporter could show up at the opening too!
I knew you'd be good at this! Good luck!

Re: The Oily Rag....................Come and Chat, February 2013
Marcia, we even have a classical guitarist who is there for the whole evening! My BFF's husband comes every month for the opening, and plays (with some breaks) for the opening. He's very good!
There are something like about 9 or 10 different galleries in the Paseo, and we have our gallery walk on the first Friday of every month, so we really don't know whether a reporter will choose us or another gallery to cover for the Sunday spread.
And of course there are all the other art events throughout the city and suburbs, so the odds are even worse that we would be picked.

I'll check that one out, Nancy. The problem is, if I get a blend that I really like, I don't necessarily remember the proportions... or for that matter, what went in there. I'm hoping these books - and the plastic measuring chart - will help me get more systematic.

How sweet of him! But now you got me really curious - there has to be a battery compartment somewhere. Maybe you have to screw open the bottom? I know I could not rest until I had taken the thing apart...

Re: The Oily Rag....................Come and Chat, February 2013
There is one tiny little screw on the bottom, but it's the smallest Philips size screw I've ever seen, even in my sewing kit. So until I buy something that won't strip the cross-shaped opening, I won't open it. But you're right, my rest will be broken until I can get inside!
I'll have to get some Shiraz and drink myself to sleep!
