A little 5×7″ I painted yesterday using a sketch and reference from a photo I took several years ago. I always felt the photo had potential for a painting, but was never really sure how to approach it, then I started sketching and the idea of making a tonal painting seems to have promise. Pretty much made up the lighting scheme and just played around with what I felt looked right. I think it may wind up being a larger painting.

November 5, 2018 at 7:02 pm #723830Very nice painterly qualities and good use of color and light. I also like the varied shapes and textures created by the tree branches and foliage. It would be awesome too make a larger version.
