Art in the Open 2012

These were the three plein airs I submitted to this year's Art in the Open plein air festival in Wexford. Great to have so many international artists this year including a number of Wetcanvas members (Michael Richardson, Antti Rutiola and Rene Plein Air).

Hay Bayles, Clonegal
(11" x 14" Oil on Board)

Slaney Rhythm, Enniscorthy
(14" x 18" Oil on Canvas)

Breaking Waves, Hook Head
(14" x 18" Oil on Canvas)

Michael

I really like the first with its luminosity.

As usual, your paintings are lovely! I can't decide which one I like the best. I hope you had nice weather for the festival, but your country is even beautiful in rainy weather!

Thanks Gary. That's the funny thing about overcast days. Things usually look a lot more luminous than they do in bright sunlight.

Thanks Squeaky. We got lucky with the weather. The forecast was really bad, but somewhow, with the exception of one day, we got a lot of dry, sunny weather.

Thanks Rob. You really must make it over next year. There is something very special about this event. Sorry to hear of medical issues - hope it's nothing too serious.

Take care,
Michael
