Cat
Hello,
Here is our old cat that my husband has been hassling me to do (unpaid commission). He is just a basic domestic short haired cat (was a stray).
It is an 8x10 and I used 11 exacto blade, broad nib, pointed nib and fibre glass brush. I really struggled with this one because when I did my horse I ended pressing to hard on the transfer paper so this time I tested the pressure and it was fine on the practice but when I transferred the cat not all of the lines came out but I was too lazy to do it again so pretty much did this by eye, also the reference photo was blurry so I had to do some google searches to get the hair direction in the face and then thirdly I tried a bit of colour and that was a disaster again the practice colour matched but looked terrible on the actual cat which i had great difficulty correcting so I left it at subtle colour in the eyes, nose and then the edge of his collar green. But hey, its all learning in the end.
I haven't done the whiskers yet as I would like cc's first so if I have to make any corrections they wont be affected.
The photo is terrible but it is the best one I could get and it has cut off a bit on the left.
Please be gentle but all cc's much appreciated.
Stacey

Stacy, first of all no cat is JUST a basic domestic short hair. They are your world, they are your friend and master......lolol
I like this, it is great. I like the subtle color. You will get the hang of coloring if that is the way you want to go. Nothing wrong with strong colors, subtle colors, or no color. Great work on the fur! The whiskers will bring him to life.

Re: Cat
I really like this one Stacy. I love the collar. That chrome has zing. The fur is nice. You could lighten some of the ear hairs just a little. I think it will pop when you put those whiskers in. Nice job.

Re: Cat
Very cute and well done. It has a stylistic flair to it.

Sorry i meant basic as in no fancy breed. He was a wicked cat though, great personality and we still miss him.
We loved this photo cause we thought he looked quite proud in his collar but maybe he did just want food cause that was the first and last time he wore it and im not sure if i want to do coloured boards or not as im just starting out but i thought i would have a play.
Thank you all so much for the advice i will look into the ears and add the whiskers. Im really worried about over scratching as i am the type of person to do that.
Thanks heaps

Re: Cat
It's darling, I have always had basic shorthairs and couldn't live without one:-) You did a great job on the fur and the buckle is super. I like the subtle color too. Well done, look forward to more of your work.

Re: Cat
My first thought was how proud he looked to have been adopted. "Look at me, I'm not hungry anymore!" Wonderful scratching.

Re: Cat
Well done! Looks like a very happy, proud cat. We had our own stray that became a part of the family. Like the touches of color you added.
