Tried to join WetCanvas for YEARS and never could get my account approved - but somehow it finally was! Yay! I've read a lot of useful articles here over those years including a GREAT article on making soft pastels at home. Thank you for that!
Anyway, I'm a full time professional artist who restarted my art studio in 2019 after a long hiatus. I suffered Lime Disease and later a bad motorcycle wreck that caused me to have to learn how to walk all over again. After moving a few times in the past few years we finally relocated to the Asheville area.
I now have a studio and gallery space at Foundation Studios in the River Arts District and am seeking additional gallery representation. I am a member of the Bascom Center of the Visual Arts in Highlands, NC where I currently have a solo show at Sotheby's running from November 1st 2019 through March 30th, 2020. I am also a member of the Apalachian Pastel Society. Long term I'd like to apply for membership (very soon) to the Pastel Society of America, the Oil Painters of America, and the Society of Animal Artists.
I work primarily in oils on canvas or panel, soft pastels, and some watercolor illustration. I am an avid plein air painter as well as working in studio. Subject matter includes landscape, animals, botanicals and people. On the side I dabble in sculpture and plant hybridizing, ride motorcycles and have a passion for hiking. I regularly take trips out to the Grand Tetons (Idaho as well) where I paint and I also do a lot of Appalachian subjects.
I have a BFA in Illustration and an MFA in oil painting. I am a class instructor and always seeking to improve my own work. There's always more to learn and try!
