Charlie, therin lies the rub, if you are not beside or near your work you won't meet the visitors. If they don't meet you, they find an artist they
can talk with.
The show is huge, and non-exhibiting visitors are not plentiful, but they are often quality rather than quantity, apart from local art-school tours. Some galleries also bring one or two of their artists to the Biennale, so an exhibitor could also be a Gallery. I would agree though, it is expensive, particularly if you are funding it all yourself.
