Today I sold a work in progress that I only showed on Instagram and did not have finished or have it up on my site. The buyer was familiar with me from FB, Instagram, and my non-art online shop. I have enjoyed posting wips on there and still haven’t tried to set up purchase buttons on, which is supposedly possible.
Just putting it out there to encourage people and to see if others are having good sales on there.

Learning how to hashtag and figuring out best time to post will increase exposure and reach and followers.. I’ve gotten 4 commissions and sold two other paintings from it. So a total of 6 within last two months. Not bad

http://www.blondheimartandstories.comMarch 10, 2019 at 9:36 pm #785080I have gotten most of my leads through word of mouth and/or facebook. I started up my instagram account to move away from FB and have more exposure. I love it there! I have become so inspired by other artists and my feed is politic-free. Like Pinterest, it’s a safe haven for me. (Hence, no twitter)
Being a primarily visual medium, it’s perfect for folks like us.
Now if I can just learn how to do IGTV!
Painting, drawing, sculpting Marine Art and Pet Portraits, and all those enticing things I simply cannot say no to.

www.facebook.com/GunterhausArt/March 10, 2019 at 10:53 pm #785071You are right about Twitter. Seems to be the center of crazy meanness in the social media world. I stay away from there. I too like the picture-centric IG. Also, they make it difficult to grab images from there, unlike Pinterest, where that’s the whole point.

https://www.facebook.com/haroldrothartistMarch 11, 2019 at 8:06 pm #785062Today I was featured in an old and wonderful art store’s IG page. (Merion Art and Repro on the Philadelphia Main Line). I am, of course, really excited but have no idea how to make the most of it!
It’s been over a year since I promised myself I’d master it…

March 11, 2019 at 8:13 pm #785072Wow, that’s great, Robin!
Today I sold one of my larger paintings to someone who knows me from my non-art site and visited my art site. Such a great feeling! I’ll put half toward stuff I need and half toward stuff I want, lol!

Absolutely agree. Instagram is an amazing tool if you learn how to properly hashtag. Here is an awesome tool with user-friendly interface https://photosfortag.com/ that definitely helps in effective running your intagram account.
August 5, 2019 at 9:16 pm #785074Following this thread to learn how to get the most out of free Instagram. I don’t understand how people get thousands of followers or if artists even need that. It’s taken me forever to get to 58 which my current one. I love its simplicity and focus on visuals. It’s kind of an adrenaline rush.
