Re: Monthly PEN & INK Project -- June, 2012.
This is a sketch of Yod Barros' photograph "Fruit and Basket". One of the things that I realise while doing these quick sketches is that it takes me a little while into the sketching to figure out the best way to sketch quickly and yet retain some degree of refinement and details in the sketch. Unfortunately I could not abandon my sketch this time and start all over again.

Blah -- Your Basket of Fruit is awesome. I could just pick that basket up and go shopping with it, it is so real. Great work.

I did the bottles too, but not as good as the others. But I tried it with coloured pencils, did not like the effect but decided to post anyway. I think the pen was too thick a nib.

Re: Monthly PEN & INK Project -- June, 2012.
Thank you Val.
Eileen...The colours in your drawing and the shape and proportions of the inked subject are all fine but the drawing does not work as well as your work usually does. I think you have nailed the problem. The ink lines stand out separately because of the nib thickness and therefore they do not complement the colour work, or work as an underpainting.

Eileen, I like the way you have coloured your bottles -- lovely translucent colours.

Wadada... I think you'll love it here. And I am lovin your style with these bottles. I sure wish I had a nice set of pens.
Blah, your sketching quickly; and with ink. This looks great! Did you start with a rough pencil outline?
Eileen, I really like your coloring, especially of the two end bottles.

You all are too kind. The Petunias are a little better. A last minute entry.

Eileen...Your Petunias sketch is lovely and the shading brings the flower pot to life. Changing the viewing angle has worked well and the bud at the top of the picture makes it very interesting.
