New member: Oil Painter

Hello there. I'm new to the art game, I started painting three months ago thanks to, as cheesy as this is going to sound, Amazon video streaming Bob Ross. I know nothing about art, art history, artists at all (I mean I guess I know Normal Rockwell?), so I am sorry that I'm a bit of a philistine. At 40 I decided I'd never really done anything that "right brained", so why not give it a go. Bought a starter oil set and gave it a shot. So my main technique is of course the wet on wet canvas. I do a lot of golf holes, mainly from photos I've taken, so those are my other two hobbies. I know I'm getting better, but I'm not "good". I really hope some members can see some of the things I've done that I'm happy with, and offer tips on how to improve. The areas I struggle with are, after all, numerous:

--Perspective (getting better)
--Clouds (almost always look flat)
--Blending sunlight and shadow

I don't ever try details like I see around here in some of these posts, they're just awesome. My son is eight and a huge Star Wars fan, one day I hope I'm good enough to make a Stormtrooper face that really shows the reflections in the armor, or a planet with a walker in the background, but those sorts of "unnatural" details have eluded me thus far. Couple samples

* Moderators and Guides have links in their Signature lines to address FAQ’s
* There are “Stickys’ (permanent threads that “stick” at the top of all thread listings) that are full of helpful information.

I love Bob Ross, he's been such a huge inspiration to so many people. Nothing wrong with a little cheese.
