Help! I am using strathmore 500 plate Bristol with colored pencils to do a portrait. I am using a very light touch to build layers but am noticing lots of little blotches in places. I’ve tried lifting them but they keep resurfacing. The photo shows several of them that are not intentional! Has anyone else had this happen? Thanks for any help!

What do you mean by blotches? Are they the white specs you see where the paper is showing through? If that the case you are just covering the tops of the texture of the paper and not getting down into the crevices.

I have read about that problem. Just can’t remember where. It was a fantasy scene. Are you using polychromos? You could try gently rubbing the spot with a Q-tip. Maybe post a pic so we can see what is happening.
