Re: the Perfect Job ...
WFMartin, that does seem like a wonderful life!
Teaching has been a wonderful career for me. Aside from the pleasure in action, there is the great bonus that I know lots of former students are doing wonderful things for which their educations provided a foundation. At its best, setting up a learning environment for any age of student teaches them how to make the most of what they see and can do.
In teaching one also can experience a wide range of emotions and lives on a surprisingly intimate level without going anywhere.

Yes, that little place at Laguna seemed to be perfect for an artist. It looked like a dream, to me. I could have stayed there.
However, since I've been retired, I teach an oil painting class at a local recreation center. I teach an adult class, ages 14 through ?, and I enjoy that very much. Only one evening a week, but it is 2 1/2 hours long, and I really enjoy it.
I do have a BS in education (industrial ed), and that has gotten me into many teaching positions which I may never have had otherwise. Vocational school, copy camera, and color theory & application at ASU, were a couple of them. A BS degree is very handy to have when seeking any teaching position.

Re: the Perfect Job ...
In my ideal "job", I would be able to paint full-time, creating 8 - 12 "major" paintings every year, and sell each for $10,000.00 plus...

I presume that means Vauxhall engines are good and Ford not so.
That would be about right, I now have an inferior engine, figures!

bit harsh realy as i am not a ford lover ( i owned some ) mk 1s were in the main good with simple x flows , mk 2s were ok apart from the 1600 and 2000 OHC engines which were ok when new but a dog of an engine when older mk 3's had an awful engine range the best being the 1600 i but nowhere near as good as vw's 1600i engine in the golf and jetta
nearing the end they got some good engines again unfortunately though the diesel was the best of the range !!

Testing out hotel spas all around the world. My husband agrees that this would be his perfect job too. :P
