Great subject this month, hardest bit is deciding which photo to use. I've got a lot of my own too. Decisions decisions!

Great! We're at the end of the poppy season here but I took lots of pictures. In fact, I took so many pictures this spring that I'm having trouble deciding what to do next.

Peak, Elaine,Jackie, Scatty, Valerie and CJ.......so glad you are going to join in. Fantastic that it's pretty well poppy season everywhere too!!
Peak........ understand about using your own Refs, so happy you can paint with us this month. I really liked No.6 too, lots of movement.
Elaine............ it's great that yours are blooming now, nothing like the real thing.
Jackie.....looked on your profile at that poppy painting, it's wonderful, and the size fantastic, I love large paintings. So looking forward to another one this month .
Scatty....yes, you have to play with us!!
Valerie, and CJ.....suggestion, just put all the ones you like in a pot and the one you pick is the one you paint.......

Sharron; love your photo refs but I have some of my own" poppy" photos that I've been waiting to paint for some time. Is it ok if I use my own? I'd love to paint from your refs at some other time and have downloaded them with that in mind.

Re: Plant Parade: May 2010

Hi too, Dewi, meggs, Desiree, eyepaint, agnesdale, and Vivian, so glad you are going to give it a go.

Vivian,...... no problem, use your own refs, the ones above are all from the Library here, when you want to use them. They are posted to be used, or just to get you in the mood . Look forward to the 25Th.

Anyone started as yet? I got my paints I was out of this week, and trying to decide what size and which one to tackle. I want to get mine going this coming week, as I'm going to a big wedding the weekend of the 22ND which is also our May long weekend. So have to finished before this.

Hey guys, if you can't choose one, do two...!!! LOL

Meggs, I've stayed up all night to do that before, I'm such a last minute Jane. Though I keep trying to change that!!.

Re: Plant Parade: May 2010

Just a thought - if anyone would like to share thoughts on colours to use, that's OK - even posting samples .... just not parts of the very-private-paintings-poppies!!!

I'm trying to find my Muse - I know I put her somewhere but she's playing hide'n'seek and I can't find her

Where's Ms. Inspiration when you need her huh?

There are all these lovely pics, I also have some from my garden (in previous years) ... the real ones aren't even in bud yet.

Re: Plant Parade: May 2010

They all are totally lovely!

It is just happened that I was up to poppies lately. I painted a pastel painting of poppy field what you have listed here and another one - in Oil Pastels (what you don't have listed). And I think I just found another favorite among those beautiful images and going to work on that one too... So far I will post what I have dome ap to date with those poppies...

Edit: Tatiana - I've moved these to a safe place because they shouldn't be posted until 25th of the month

Hi everyone,

That's a good idea Maureen, especially with the reds yellows and oranges in the Poppies.......
I tend to use three or four reds that are my favs. first off Naphthol red, Quin red and Cadium red light. Also Quin Magneta. I work mainly with Acrylics, most of these are transparents, and I do lots of glazes with them.
Any one else have some favorite colors they use?

Hi Tatiana, welcome, so happy you are in the poppy mood right now. Glad you are joining in here. We post our paintings on the 25th of the month, right here in this thread, so Maureen will add your's for you then. No problem. Hope you have another one to post too, that would be great..

I've got mine started. not far into it as yet. It's Spring and everyone is planting and playing outside right now after such a winter, getting some sunshine. Me too!!! I can see others are playing hooky from painting too!!
Hello!!! Anybody OUT There!!!
