Lately, I’ve been aware that we all need a reminder about this. I know digital artists, are accustomed to “living online” and linking to other sites, but at the same time, there are good reasons for the policy here at WetCanvas. In We are always trying to avoid commercial postings of any sort, and unfortunately, when someone links to their work on another site, it is often a software developer just trying to sell you guys on their software, hence it’s an unalloyable use of the forum. So Please post your jpegs, and try to avoid using links to other sites. It’s okay to say I use “X” software, tell us a little about it, and what you like about it. But please don’t give us the link. If users want to investigate further, they will look for it in a search engine.
It has always been the policy and within the community spirit of WC that members share images of their work here on site for sharing and for C&C. Please do not link to off site image hosting services because we risk those images being removed and rendering threads here on WC useless. You will also benefit from posting here because many members will not follow a link due to fears of a virus or other potential negative.
Thank you for this consideration to your fellow WC members! You will find explicit instructions on uploading images here: https://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=962891
If you encounter difficulties you may seek assistance here: https://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=8

December 5, 2015 at 11:15 am #530253I knew that we should upload a picture rather than linking to one, but I didn’t know it wasn’t okay to post links for information. People do that all the time and I think that should be allowed. It makes it much easier to direct people when we want to share information or resources and I also appreciate it when people post a link instead of making me search for something.
C&C always welcome. Michelle

Every painting is a new adventure.December 5, 2015 at 1:39 pm #530252I agree Michelle, but unfortunately, from time to time, people use links to direct to other sites for commercial gain and those are the one’s I am required to catch and delete. I try to take things on a case by case basis, but Mods are expected to watch this closely.
