Scavenger Hunt #397 Mar 10 - Mar 18, 2015

If you've participated in at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one we would really appreciate it. You can sign up by posting your name on the current hosting schedule in the Art From Life forum here:
http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/show...366347&page=44

Here are the rules for the hunt:

*All items on the list must be sketched from life - not imagination or photo reference.

*Each object you draw can count for only one item on the list, no matter how many shapes/parts/colors that object contains. This was agreed on by unanimous vote among the participants.

*You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count these objects as separate items, but no single object can count for more than one item.

*All items posted must be numbered. Count them as you go. The first item you post will be #1 regardless of its place on the list. Do them in whatever order you wish, but count them in the order in which you sketch them, from 1 to 26.

Do as many or as few of the items as you like. You don't have to finish the entire list to participate. The Scavenger Hunt "week" will last for 9 days, with the next hunt starting on the 9th day.

Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you for each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are welcome.

***If you have some hunt sketches completed, but little time to read/comment, please post your sketches anyway. Commenting is appreciated but not necessary.***

Here is the list of some everyday items in my world:

Hope - congrats on being first. Hello, kitty! And what a fun sunny thing for your car to wear!

I made some time this afternoon. This page is 5x8 and this is PITT pens and watercolour with some graphite showing through. I was gonna do more pen hatching but forgot. Also forgot to erase the graphite. But, hey! I did something!

1. apple
2. dog-related

Re: Scavenger Hunt #397 Mar 10 - Mar 18, 2015

Hope, we need the sun here, too. We have had 3 weeks of very little sun. We did have 4 inches of rain the last few days which was soooo needed. I love the antenna topper and your kitty, too.

EP, I love the apple. That is my favorite thing to paint, my fall back when I can't think of anything else. Cute dog toy, too.

Kivrin, nice apple. I like the shading and highlights.

I sketched on my iPad again and used the Sketchbook Pro. I forgot to turn on the recording part. I am so used to Brushes that it took me about an hour to do this. I had to undo quite a bit as I couldn't figure out the tools, opacity, colors, etc. I'm not sure it counts as a sketch, but like EP says, I did something.
Number 1, apple - this is a big apple, a honeycrisp. It is almost as big as the canteloupe but not as big as I made it. Ha!
Number 2, fruit - canteloupe

Re: Scavenger Hunt #397 Mar 10 - Mar 18, 2015

Kivrin - thank you. I have seen apples like yours

Jo - thank you. Wonderful fruit salad items!

I'm reposting my 1&2 - I added more ink.

And here are the next ones. I used graphite first because I find these items so complicated.

3. step
4. stair
5. space - nook under the stairs

I think I'll add colour to this tomorrow. Or add more ink. Or something like that.

Cheers,

Re: Scavenger Hunt #397 Mar 10 - Mar 18, 2015

ha! I don't think I want to cook anything in that roasting pan, bits of rusty spots where the enamel is chipped/worn away (it's only around for decoration)... and I don't think you'd want me cooking any kind of seafood meal, as I have never done so in my life! (I do eat a few things, but didn't do so until later in life, so never learned to cook it.)

Re: Scavenger Hunt #397 Mar 10 - Mar 18, 2015

EP, I still like the apple! You sketched some complicated stairs. Did you get color on? Thanks.

Ai, thank you so much.

Hope, nicely done on the wolf. The starfish and pan have nice complements. I don't cook seafood either. I do like to eat fish, not shell stuff so much. We are going for a crawfish boil at our daughters tomorrow. I can eat a few then all of a sudden my dryland mind comes on and I can only see scorpions and have to stop eating. Ha.

Tresgatos, mmmm, you know me and apples. I like the ink sketch, too.

I went for a walk yesterday and tried to get the outdoor things in one swoop. In my 7 x 10 sketchbook with a micron assortment. I used colored pencil on the jacket.

Number 3, jacket
Number 4, cow - no cows so substituted the neighborhood paint horse

Number 5, dog - he kept barking then sat down and kept on barking.
Number 6, landscape - a different view of our pond

Number 7, sign

Ei Thanks for the list.

Everyone is doing a super job again this month.

I also drew an apple, looks like a favorite fruit to have around the house

Graphite in my dedicated sketchbook, I used different grades, F, HB and 2B for this, but I also played a bit in Photoshop to darken it, my old printer scanner did a much better job scanning, and I haven't quite figured the new one out.
