Jesse Lane, the King of CP!

Hello all! I am posting this short video that Jesse Lane just released. If you don't already know of him, he is one of the most amazing CP artists out there. His work is photo realism and just stunning. His studio burned down one day after his very first gallery showing and he lost ALL of his works. I have gone to two of his workshops and he is a gentle, gorgeous artist both inside and out!

Re: Jesse Lane, the King of CP!

The Oct. Nov. 2018 International artist magazine has a terrific article on him and he mentions oil paints and how he wants to mimic oils in his work with colored pencil. I was surprised though, that he works in prismacolor which is wax based.
Thanks so much for the link Lizzy. I am also a big fan.

Re: Jesse Lane, the King of CP!

I love his work, but he is all about people so if you want to do flowers, I don't think he is the artist to follow for that. When I looked at the video you posted, Lizzy, I noticed that the pencil he was using had Raffine on it. I looked at Lachri's review on Raffine and they are really cheap pencils which she thinks are mostly only OK for colouring books. In his box which I only caught a glimpse of, the pencils seemed to have light coloured wooden casings. So, Lzzy, maybe you can tell us what brand of pencils he uses?

He is also using the new Derwent Lightfast brand pencils, his artwork is featured on the 36 pencil tin!

They get good reviews. Colors are earthy, but not vibrant? Perhaps someone here has used them?

The light colored wood looks like pencil extenders.
