Pennywise The Dancing Clown

"I, Georgie, am Mr. Bob Gray, also known as Pennywise the Dancing Clown. Pennywise, meet George Denbrough. George, meet Pennywise. And now we know each other. I'm not a stranger to you, and you're not a stranger to me. Kee-rect?"

Having a little fun with Derry, Maine's favorite boogeyman...

Pennywise The Dancing Clown
Specifications: 20" x 10" mixed media paper cutting and Prismacolor pencil on Mi-Teints paper Personal collection.

I'd been planning to do a paper sculpture of Pennywise from the movie 'IT' for a while, didn't think I'd be going in this direction. This started out as an experiment, combining paper cutting with a traditional portrait done with graphite or colored pencil. While creating the templates for the paper cut portion of this image, I got to playing around with the color scheme. One was dark and sepia toned, the other was...not so dark. Loved the idea of pairing a horror icon with bright deco colors, so I went with a playful approach.

Since this is an experiment, c & c's are warmly welcomed.

Do they float?
No, Georgie. They party like it's Mardi Gras! And when you're down here with me, you'll party too!!!

Thanks for looking.

P.S. Here's a close up of the colored pencil portion of this piece:

That's brilliant. Your paper skills are top notch, and so are your pencil skills. Very very cool!
