Re: My First (Human) Portrait

WoW, talk about photo realism. I'm new to painting and I would love to see photos of the progression on your next human portrait. Great job.

Re: My First (Human) Portrait

Like SO MANY here I was sure it was the photograph that was displayed by mistake but alas though it is hard to believe my own eyes ...it is a real hand produced painting! What Fantastic work and such microscopic attention to detail.

Your 17 years pursuing wildlife art seem to have been put to good use and I am honored to have been able to see this amazing self portrait and say something about what a stupendously giant leap this is for a wildlife artist to produce a 2D self portrait that you expect should blink or talk back to you.

I'm sure it would have been faster for you to 'just take a picture' with your camera albeit less satisfying. Can I ask how long you 'labored' on this work?

What are you planning to do with this painting? Please don't give up your bragging rights although with all these posts I don't think you will have to do any bragging of you own!!
You deserve the long clap for your effort. Here's to you.

Re: My First (Human) Portrait

Ian , amazing work! I would also like to know how long this piece took to paint and please, please with the next one do a WIP with a lot of photos. The rest of us could learn so much by following the creation of a master work like you do.

Well thanks to all. I didn't see this post the first time, so I am thrilled it popped up again. Ian, your webpage doesn't link anymore. Please fix! Thanks.
