Re: Stitch in Time August 1, 2011
Bonnie, it is already on my website. I always try to get everything on the website as I am showing on the forums. That way I don't forget to put it on. I am missing things on the site because I never use to do that. My inventory list is way out of date too and I know I don't have things on it. Someone want to come and inventory everything I have for sale? Pay is not good but the company is good.

Re: Stitch in Time August 1, 2011
Martha, I stopped and posted you a message when I saw your request. Then came back and continued to read the rest of the responses. I apologize I wasn't on earlier and missed your deadline. Wasn't too terribly helpful in any case.
Eva, you did a great job on the sleigh. It looks marvelous.
Bonnie, sorry about your hat frustration. Maybe you should just do your own thing and not worry about a specific pattern.
Today, DH wanted to go get more fire wood. So off we went for another micro-load. Got back and was just making lunch when mom called. Seems something is wrong with her eye. She blew it off when I offered to come get her and take her to the doctor. *sigh* So went off to make more lollies and play with the salt we smoked yesterday. We made 5 kinds, a plain smoked salt, garlic smoked salt, apple smoked salt, whiskey smoked salt, and beer smoked salt. The apple didn't turn out. It solidified into a solid lump and looked burned. Kind of tasted burned too. We were using apple wood to smoke so thought that apple juice would enhance the flavor. Guess we got that wrong. The rest turned out great. The garlic smoked salt turned out particularly tasty. Got another phone call from mom. A neighbor was taking her to see an eye doctor. Haven't heard anything since...

Re: Stitch in Time August 1, 2011
Thanks, Debby. It's cool. I had good research data, but was thinking how great it would be to have a friend be an "expert" quoted and thought maybe I could swing a link to your site . . . They published the article quickly after my submitting it and this time I took a photo in my kitchen to illustrate it instead of using clip art. With the 7 bylines so far and in just one week, I'm hoping this helps me get into paying markets. We'll see. There's a plan . . . meanwhile I'm working every angle and even though i'm not making money, I'm doing work I'm passionate about and loving it!

Debby, I think I need a LIFE. Or maybe it is that I need a little LESS of life?
For example, my sister made last minute plans to stay an hour north of us, in order to use up her condo program points that were about to expire. So, in the middle of other already scheduled things, is this lovely opportunity to go hang out with her in the wine country, along with my mom and other local family. How do I NOT? But then on my second day there, an old and good client contacts me with an SOS message: can I meet with them to do a visual for a conference next week? How do I NOT? Now, since my sister has driven 12+ hours to be in the area, how do I NOT go with her to take care of some critical needs at the family cabin in the mountains? But oh yes, the theater department is expecting prototypes from me by Friday, on elements of a set design. Did I mention the car is choking at 64 MPH and needs to get into the shop BEFORE another drive to the mountains. The garage is of course across the bay, which means using public transit back...oh yes, what about those demonstrators who have been shutting down our local system during the commute. Sigh. And I wonder why I get no artwork done....
Yes, Debby. I need a vacation. And a fistful of lollies to go with. But WAIT. Didn't I JUST get back from a road trip to Wyoming? Taking my mom to a wedding in Kansas and a drive on to Joplin. Whew, my DH has booked rooms for several days next week for our anniversary.....

Jen, I don't know how you do it all. You seem to be burning your candle at both ends and maybe in the middle too Maybe next month will be a little quieter.

Re: Stitch in Time August 1, 2011
Debby congratulations with the sale of the land I am so happy for you
Martha good to know you are doing ok.
Bonny take care
Eva wonderful sledge. Made me think of Yule tide and what I need to prepare. Thanks!
Now Jen you take that holiday before you burn out.....
I et the surgeon this afternoon and he is very happy with my situation and no operation in sight. But he said I need to take inflamatory meds as he thinks that this is what drove me into this period of angry pain. So I will get better in few days and should have a better life all around and should be able to go work in my studio as I have been doing If I could jump with joy I would.
Thank you all for your concern and support. What a great group

Re: Stitch in Time August 1, 2011
Martha, glad you were able to write your article without me.
Jen, sounds like DH is a keeper booking you a few days away from it all. And Happy Anniversary.
Hi Eva.
Sigrun, so glad there is no surgery in your future. And that you will be back in your studio soon. Being able to do your art should help the healing too. However, do not over do it.
Today is cool. I've been melting in the heat and so is my candy. I sincerely hope the weather guessers are wrong and this cooling trend continues. Otherwise, my show on Saturday is going to be miserable. I'm making more lollies today. I'm also working on baking without butter. People forget that butter comes from cow's milk and if I'm allergic to milk, then butter is forbidden also. Honestly, I think I've nailed the problem. My swelling is still going down a bit at a time. My joints have quit hurting so much. But, I really, really want some butter for my biscuits and pancakes. *sigh* I've made do with olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the biscuits and peanut butter on the pancakes. I'm also looking into recipes for cookies and breads that don't use milk or butter. I already have spelt flour to substitute for the wheat. Tho' I think the dairy is the biggie rather than the wheat. I'm giving this a month before I challenge either food, or decide there may be other foods causing me problems.

Re: Stitch in Time August 1, 2011
Sigrun, I am so happy that you don't need surgery. Hope the meds take the swelling down and you can get back to your beautiful silks.
Debby, it sounds like the diary may be part of the problem. You can introduce a little, like the butter, and see if you can tolerate that. I can eat butter and milk cooking into things but not just a glass of milk or milk on cereal or ice cream. You know how much I miss ice cream I will still eat a little of it and then suffer but it is some times SO worth it. I do have problems with cheese but I don't eat that very often and have never been a big cheese eater so I don't miss that.
The one thing about the wheat is I find it I cut it out, that I can lose weight faster. But that is a another problem for me because I love my bread. Oh well I can't have everything but I do love to eat what I want and not what my body says no, no to. Don't I have to have a few vises?
Today was grocery shopping and goodwill senior discount day. Found a cute little corner display stand that two or three small dolls fit on, another sleigh in metal, one doll and a Christmas Santa ornament for our house. I like discount day because of the 25% off. I know the corner stand was there the other day but it was more than I wanted to pay and with luck it was still there and I got it.
The doll I have already washed up and set her hair. It will need some new clothes. It had an outfit on but nasty so will make her something pretty to wear. I have three dolls now who need outfits but a couple of them I can quite figure out yet what I want to put on them.
Well off to the sewing room and maybe I will get inspired..........

Re: Stitch in Time August 1, 2011
Eva, same here..........today was groc shopping and had to stop by Lowe's. Tom is still not feeling well, but better and the bump (spider bite we think) is no longer red and is shrinking. His head doesn't hurt as bad either.
Debby, I like butter, too! But also like olive oil on potatoes, etc.
Sigrun, what wonderful news! No back surgery is always a good thing!
Hi Jen and everyone else!
Yes, Debby, I've thought about making my own hat pattern and might do that yet, or at least partly. Going to think a little more about what to do........

Re: Stitch in Time August 1, 2011
Sounds like everyone is having a good week. I'm glad!
DH had his procedure today and they really didn't see anything abnormal as was shown in CT scan. DH was disappointed as he was hoping they would maybe find a viral infection, give him some meds and he could get well again. He was in his cycle of pain, fever and chills today so I was surprised they went ahead with the procedure. It was hard on him and he has pretty much been sleeping hard all day. Decision on his DS: I expect him to call tonight to check on his Dad, I would hope anyway. I've decided not to say anything unless his son specifically asks. He's a very educated and intelligent person, if he really wants to know and doesn't feel ok to ask Dad point blank how he really feels, he knows how to contact me.
DH has another specialist appt in the morning, then if he's feeling ok alone I'll be off to work. Then a 3 day weekend.....Thank Goodness!!!!!

Re: Stitch in Time August 1, 2011
Well, Sept 1st has come and almost gone and no September Stitch in Time yet. Wish we didn't have to wait to get it going. Tom still isn't feeling the best.
Angie, sorry your DH has had no answers yet about what is wrong.

Hi Eva.
Bonnie, glad your DH is on the mend.
Angie, your DH is really having a time of it. Hope they can pinpoint what is wrong with him and get him some relief.
Congrats, Martha.
I've started a September Stitch today. Hopefully, Jen will pop in soon and sticky it to the top.

Re: Stitch in Time August 1, 2011
Hi, not sure what this thread was about so read this page. You guys do sewing??? I do, made myself a denim purse to replace the one my mom gave me a few years ago, and the srtaps were slowly disappearing so it needed replacing anyway. This time I added a couple extra pockets..the one on the end outside the strap is really wonderful..can put a small sketchbook in there. Have used it for a flashlight too!!! (Not sure if I can but both in at the same time, but that would be a bonus!!!) Should have done this pocket idea years ago, but thought there would be too much denim to stitch the seams, but it worked great this time!!!! I have almost used up the two pairs of new jeans (size 52 and 54!!!) that my neighbor gave or sold to me at one of their garage sales as he had lost so much weight, he knew he would never be able to wear either of them. The jean denim is so much 'stronger' than the denim you buy in a fabric store to make jeans etc. Anyway, hope you all have a good October. So what is the October Stitch in Time...What is it all about? Thanks, Hope to 'talk' with you again.
Dr. Debby, try pineapple juice instead of milk to make 'stuff' We had run out of milk so I used pineapple juice to make pancakes..Yummy, then the pineapple tidbits worked really well as a topping instead of syrup...Just an idea, but if you are also not doing wheat, you may not be doing pancakes etc either!!!

Re: Stitch in Time August 1, 2011
Pixieartist, the "Stitch in Time" thread is the fiber art forum chat thread. So, we can gab off topic if we want to and get to know our fellow fiber fiends. Anyway, we start a new one each month.
Yes, some of us sew, some knit, some crochet, some paint/dye fabric, there used to be spinners here too. We also have paper crafts, such as bookbinding. So glad you stopped by. Start a thread to show us your new denim purse. We'd be delighted to see it. Stop by the current chat thread and say hello if you'd like.
Thanks for the pineapple juice idea.
