At home depot I grabbed a sheet of hardboard off the shelf marked 3/16 and had them cut it into 3 pieces. At the register I realized (too late) it was actually 1/8″. I need it for 18″x24″ and 24″x36″ paintings and have always used 3/16.
I’m wondering if I should just go ahead and use it, or should I glue two pieces together?http://s3.amazonaws.com/wetcanvas-hdc/Community/images/18-Sep-2019/1999899-sigsmall.jpg

At the same home Depot look for hobby boards. Nice narrow boards in pine or poplar that you can glue to make your cradle.

Thanks D. I.cradle and/or float frame when I show my work but keep it as a panel for storage to take less room. So don’t know how a 1/8 panel would hold up in 24×36 size in terms of bowing – I do paint all sides and the 3/16 does pretty good. 1/8 ??

STUDIOBONGOJuly 5, 2018 at 1:27 pm #653134Oh, that is pretty big, so you may have to consider bowing. You could make a cross brace thru the middle with your cradle?
The other option might be to cut this one up into nice “study” size pieces.Website: www.artderek.com
