Riverbanks Zoo

I absolutely love the zoo. Just a few snaps from when we went this past Sunday.

Thanks Greg. Don't say more, Eileen, I have a couple hundred shots from there....not all worthy of a look, though

Sheesh, the flamingos are almost neon. Nice shots. I always liked zoos too but the last time I went I felt bad for the animals being so confined.

Re: Riverbanks Zoo

Thanks everyone. Sure, why not. Just a few more snap shots. If anyone is curious, I was using an old Minolta Maxxum 7D with a 24mm - 70mm Tamron lens.

One of the "Blown Glass" art works around the zoo

I KNOW the branches are distracting.

Just because I liked the walk path

Re: Riverbanks Zoo

My plastic flamingos in the garden don't look nearly as cool as yours.....

but seriously

these are the most striking colors on those flamingos I have ever seen, they must be breath-taking IRL.

You are very lucky to live near such a great zoo.

do these critters give autographs????

Re: Riverbanks Zoo

I quite like the branches in the bear photo because they give the impression that you have snuck up on them and are watching them from a hiding place
The flamingoes are absolutely striking and the view of the giraffe is unusual - does the zoo allow giraffe feeding or do they just have an observation platform high up?

Re: Riverbanks Zoo

Thanks all. The critters DO give autographs, you might lose a hand or two getting one, though. I LOVE flamingos!! Probably half my shots are of them.
And yes, you may feed those long neck animals. They have velvet like tongues. Very unexpected.
