Street View

Another attempt at Gouache after getting inspired by James Gurney. From photo reference I took (9” x 10.5” on watercolor paper). I feel some measure of success after considerable struggle, due to lack of practical experience with the medium and the small size of the piece. I think more struggle with working small, but want to get better at that so I can work smaller in the field.

Re: Street View

Nice handling of a complex subject. I like both the color and the draftsmanship. Gouache is enough of its own animal to make it tough for me. Looks to me like you are a long ways towards mastering it. Gary

Re: Street View

Jon, thanks for the support. I do feel a fair measure of success with this piece. My frustration was maybe the lack of spontaneity, but who said painting was supposed to be fun all the time?
