Re: new painting

I love this painting too, conceptually and formally. Conceptually it offers an objective and subjective view. We see the woman standing, but also see her experiences and feelings through the face in the lower panel. I love the mood of the forest, somber but not overly contrived or "scary". It could just as well be a metaphor for getting lost in our thoughts, reverie, the cerebral "forest" of the brain. I also like the way you have depicted the face, very beautiful, with the flowing dark hair. The color scheme is nice and unified too, dark, but objects are still differentiated. That's a tough one to achieve!

Re: new painting

Thank you heatherita for your take on it. You have basically described what I was hoping for with this one.

Re: new painting

At first glance I thought the girl on the bottom was dreaming of walking through the forest on top. As I looked deeper I noticed the "bubbles" above her and it made me think that she was dieing and regretting that last fateful step.

Overall I enjoy the creepy morbidness of the subject and the way the color choice adds to this.

Love it.
