Ocean Sunset- almost finished

11x14 on canvas. Gamblin, M Graham, Blockx, Michael Harding, Rembrandt. I'm a fan of looser paints. No mediums with this one. Still have some more work to do, mainly getting the prespective down to my liking. This is done out of my head so its tricky to get things to make sense. I don't like how my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th waves go across the entire canvas.

More layering and highlighting the clouds so it really creates a glow. I want to have the sky light up in dim light the same way Thomas Kinkade (gasp) does his.

C&C welcome

Wow. I love the colors. I love the reflection on the wet sand.

Yes it's very tricky to get it right ... Especially working from ur head , but your doing it pretty well .... I love it but maybe slightly alittle to high in chroma ....

Nice work, especially without a reference, it is believable.

Re: Ocean Sunset- almost finished

thanks for comments everyone

lovinart....this picture is brighter than my original. I'm no wiz with a camera so I can only get the picture so close. I do need the bright parts slightly exagerated so they can hold up in dimmer light. But I will def consider the overall chroma going foward. Thanks

Re: Ocean Sunset- almost finished

heres an update of what I did taking the advice of lovinart. I calmed down on the cad yellow light and scrubbed some yellow-orange over it. Also got rid of some of the clouds b/c they just weren't jiving with me. And lastly, I darkend some areas to make the light stand out more.

This photo was taken in dim light to better illustrate the type of effect I'm going for. The picture is a little fuzzy due to the lack of light. The white doesn't stand out that much in real life but I still have more layers so that it will stand out as much as possible.

The contrast is great. I found myself squinting when looking at the sun.
