Some stuff I'm working on/have done! Crit welcome!

Hi Guys!

I'm new to the forums, and was told that I should post oil paintings in this subforum!

I've been working on some stuff and would appreciate some constructive criticism on stuff I could improve on! I'm also trying to develop a concrete style that is uniquely my own, so if anyone wanted to point out things that stood out to them as stylistic that I could work on/improve I'd also really appreciate that!

I'm so excited that a forum like this exists; it's really beautiful that artists all over the globe can connect this way!

Thanks! Xoxo

They are all different styles, but if you are new to painting then I say go with it - experiment, experiment, experiment! You will eventually find your style, your voice, but you can't force it. In fact you are finding it right now, along the way, even if you don't know it yet.

Good stuff. I especially like the bat. Is that banana a gun?

Yes! The banana is a gun. I used that surrealism prompt thing where you use a random-word generator and pick 4 or 5 words that stand out to you. Mine were: bat, weapon, banana, desert.

The theory is that the words that stand out to you are your subconcious saying something; I'm not sure how well that stands up in practice, but I HAD just taken a class where we learned about Dole and their exploitation of the Banana workers union in South America, so maybe there's something to it?

Also, I've been working on the jellyfish and I'm trying to go for a fabric-type thing. Like it's almost made of cloth, you know? Not sure how well that's coming out so far, but here's an update pic:
