Koi fish pond on rock

I've been doing a koi fish pond painted on sheet rock for a friend of mine and finally got a little time to work on it. Here's one of a few:

I'll probably tinker a couple things, but I like the direction.

Thanks for dropping by!

This is looking really good Jon. Light, airy, nice colors. love it on the rock - makes a very interesting format, and you have used it well. What is this sheet rock - looks like plaster to me? Do you have to size it or gesso it for protection from the oils?

I must admit I was skeptical when I saw the title. I love the effect. It's like a chunk of pond. Well done!

Thanks, Allison. Yeah, i think its probably limestone (my using of "sheet rock" is likely incorrect ). It has the look of plaster from the acrylic gesso sealer.

What will be an interesting challenge is curing enough layers of oil on top of the work to withstand the elements--i've had poor result with various polyurethanes in exposed sunlight.

Billmahler, Dcam, Phranque and Carol, Thank ya'll for the encouraging and kind words!
